SUMMARY:2025 Abuse Workshop @ Nordic Domain Days
DESCRIPTION:\n\nRegister now!\n\n\n\nDownload ics/ical\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\neco’s topDNS Initiative & iQ Globalinvite you to the fourth Abuse Workshop at Nordic Domain Days 2025 in Stockholm!\n\n\n\neco’s topDNS initiative is once again a proud partner of the Nordic Domain Days and invites you to attend the workshop on fighting online abuse on the second day of the conference.\n\n\n\n2024 was a turning point in the discussion about DNS abuse and online harms. In April last year, the contract amendments came into force requiring domain name registries and registrars with contractual relationships with ICANN to increase the level of abuse mitigation came into effect. The NIS2 Directive is the first piece of legislation to include the term “DNS abuse”. For the purpose of this workshop, the definition of “DNS abuse” will be based on the “DNS Abuse Framework ( https://dnsabuseframework.org/ )” and will include malware, botnets, phishing, pharming, and spam when it is used as a delivery mechanism for the other four forms of abuse.\n\n\n\nMalware, botnets, phishing, pharming and spam continue to pose significant challenges to the online ecosystem, threatening cybersecurity, user trust and the stability of the Internet. Hosting providers play a critical role in mitigating the abuse of compromised websites and services that may be involved in malicious activity.\n\n\n\nBeyond the “Famous Five” technical abuse trends mentioned above, a wide range of threats are gaining momentum. We invite all Nordic Domain Days attendees to join the workshop to discuss how all relevant stakeholders up and down the stack can work more closely together to reduce the uptime of maliciously registered domain names and compromised websites to protect users, customers, and clients.\n\n\n\nThe aim of the session is to create a mutual understanding of how different types of abuse are dealt with by different types of intermediaries and service providers, the challenges associated with certain types of abuse, and how closer cooperation can help to combat online harm more effectively, especially content-related issues.\n\n\n\nOn Tuesday, 29 April in Stockholm, the topDNS initiative of eco – Association of the Internet Industry and iQ Global will take the opportunity to bring together domain name registries and registrars with hosting service providers and ISPs.\n\n\n\nFurther details and the agenda will be published soon.\n\n\n\n\nPartner\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSubscribe here to the dotmagazine monthly newsletter with links to articles from dotmagazine and eco news and events.\n\n\n\n\nSubscribe now!
